background

EC Headquarters Berlaymont

Entelec delivered a system integration solutions to the European Commission Headquarters, alias the Berlaymont building, that manages over 20 buildings.

In the year 2000 Entelec introduced the Sky-Walker integration platform to the European Commission. The Entelec company excelled owing to her enormous flexibility regarding control security systems which integrate the customers’ inherent network. Since 2000, over 20 buildings have been connected to the Sky-Walker Integration Platform, including the headquarters of the European Commission (the Berlaymont building).

Scope

The customer uses the Sky-Walker Integration Platform as a security management system to control highly secured zones in the Berlaymont building. The goal is not only to monitor but also to control the systems from one central dispatching. Besides the central dispatching, the customer disposes about a backup dispatching and a graphical workstation in all controlled buildings. By connecting the buildings to the central dispatching there is no need to have a 24/7 service in each peculiar building. The buildings will be managed from the central dispatching.

Products and services

  • software integration platform;
  • communication modules including subsystems;
  • engineering services to set up graphical user interface.

State-of-the-art

All systems are connected to the network and are controlled by 3 central servers. Data are transported to the Ethernet in a highly secured way, providing sophisticated encryption algorithms. Even in case of network failure, each graphical workstation has the capability to work as a hot standby stand-alone server that controls all the equipment installed in the building.

Features and connected systems

  • Intrusion detection systems
  • Access control systems
  • CCTV-systems
  • Videophony
  • Electricity distribution: high and low voltages
